EV charging stations in New Brunswick
111 charging locations and 243 ports across 5 cities and towns, 43 of them DC fast.
Charging in New Brunswick
New Brunswick spreads its charging fairly evenly across its three main centres. Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John each hold a similar number of locations, with Dieppe and Riverview adding more around the Moncton area.
Most ports are Level 2, with under one in five rated DC fast, so a lot of the map is hotel, campus and municipal charging. flo and ChargePoint run the largest share, with BeCharged, EV Connect and Tesla also present. For a province this size the coverage is workable, but the totals are small enough that one busy or broken unit can change your plans, so it pays to have a second option in mind before you set off.
On the road
Highway 2, the Trans-Canada, cuts diagonally from Edmundston through Fredericton to Moncton and on toward Nova Scotia, and it links the towns where most of the charging sits. Route 1 runs the Bay of Fundy shore from St Stephen through Saint John. Route 11 follows the Acadian coast north and is noticeably thinner. The Confederation Bridge links you across to Prince Edward Island.
Plugs and payment
J1772 for Level 2 and CCS1 on DC fast units, with NACS appearing at newer sites and CHAdeMO lingering on older ones. Level 2 posts come with the cable; carry a portable cord for outlets as your backup. Payment is usually through a network app or RFID card, so register before you travel rather than standing at the charger.
Three things to know
- Coastal fog and wet snow slow winter driving; add charging time to journeys that are already taking longer.
- Charge in Moncton or Fredericton before heading up the north shore, where locations are much scarcer.
- Signage is bilingual, but charger apps may default to one language; set yours before you go.
