Charging in the United States: what to know
North American EVs use the J1772 plug for Level 2 AC charging and either CCS1 or the Tesla NACS plug for DC fast charging. Most new models from 2025 onward ship with NACS, and adapters bridge the two standards in both directions. Prices are set per kWh in most states and provinces, with some networks still billing per minute; idle fees apply once charging stops. See the connector guide and the cost guide.
