EV charging stations in Oregon
1,483 charging locations and 4,233 ports across 30 cities and towns, 881 of them DC fast.
Charging in Oregon
Oregon's charging clusters in the Willamette Valley. Portland holds a bit over 200 locations, Salem around a hundred, and Beaverton, Eugene and Hillsboro several dozen each, so the I-5 spine from Portland down to Eugene is comfortably covered.
Away from that corridor, coverage is thinner. Bend, Medford and Corvallis each sit in the thirties or low forties, and the sparsely populated east of the state has far less again. About one port in five is DC fast, so most of what you will find is Level 2. ChargePoint and Blink Charging lead by site count, with OpConnect, Tesla and SemaConnect also common.
On the road
I-5 is the main north-south run, linking Portland, Salem, Eugene, Roseburg and Medford, and it has the best fast-charging spacing in the state. I-84 follows the Columbia River east from Portland through the Gorge, US-97 runs south past Bend, and US-101 traces the coast. On the eastern and coastal routes the gaps between fast chargers get long, so plan stops rather than assuming one appears.
Plugs and payment
J1772 on Level 2, CCS1 and NACS on DC fast, with CHAdeMO surviving at older sites. Level 2 posts are almost always cabled. A portable cable is still worth carrying here, since rural motels, parks and campgrounds often offer an outlet rather than a charger.
Three things to know
- Coast and high desert routes are sparse; leave the Willamette Valley with more charge than the route planner asks for.
- Winter weather can close mountain passes; check conditions and reach Bend or Medford with usable range in reserve.
- Most of the state's ports are Level 2, so in Portland plan to charge while parked rather than mid-trip.
